The Fourth Grade facilitated the first staff meeting of the year.  Since this is the first year SVS will be implementing standards based report cards in all grades, staff and teachers collaborated to decide on a uniformed format for report cards.  We also touched on Reading Proficiency markers, English Language Assessments, supervision and Student Council elections.  Thank you to the Fourth Grade for providing a clear agenda and gathering everyone's input.  Thank you to the grade levels for honoring norms and completing the task!

ScreamFree Teaching

Hal and Jenny Runkel meet SVS teachers and staff at the ScreamFree Workshop on August 30th at the World Resort Ballroom.  The ScreamFree Institute has provided training for parents and teachers on positive discipline and creating a scream free environment.

Teaching is not about students; it's about teachers.
If you're not under control, you can't be in charge.
Any instructor is one who introduces structure.

Let the consequences do the teaching.
Every teacher is a geometry teacher.
The most important grades are the ones we give ourselves.
